Hanasaku Iroha

Hanasaku Iroha follows the life of Ohana Matsumae who is a very outgoing and responsible 16 year old girl. Throughout the story she just runs into all kinds of hardships and drama that turns her life around. The anime starts out with her living a normal high school girl in Tokyo with her mother. This changes very fast when her mother suddenly decides to run off with a boyfriend to dodge debt collectors… She is then sent off to live with her grandmother who is an owner of a hots springs inn called Kissuiso. She is expecting a warm welcome from a “candy giving” grandmother but instead gets told very bluntly that she has to work at the inn to pay for her living expenses by a very strict grandmother. At first Ohana is quite unhappy about this but she soon decides to make the best of the situation and works very hard.

I really came to love everything about this show because it was just so engaging to watch. I felt like I could really relate to the characters and it really tells an amazing story that just brings out an amazing array of emotions. The art also is absolutely amazing, I loved the art and art is always a huge thing for me. The characters are all so unique and half the time they don’t do what you are expecting but in the end it always makes sense.

Hanasaku Iroha is just a warm and relaxing drama that is just a pleasure to watch in my opinion. I really enjoyed the relaxing feel of the show, it’s nice every once in a while to get an anime that has a realistic setting and this is one of them. If you like slice of life, comedy, and drama, this anime is for you. It delivers all that and more in a very smooth manner.
